It’s not just camp and swimming lessons at the Culver-Palms Family YMCA. You’re invited to learn just what “Covered California” means for you, your family and the community at the Y, located at 4500 Sepulveda Blvd. There are several informative session on the new health plan options being offered – and YMCA staff will be on hand to provide an overview of and answer questions about Covered California, including benefits and ways to enroll. Sessions are scheduled on this Tuesday, November 5th, 5:45p.m. and Wednesday, November 6th, 10:00 a.m.; Tuesday, December 3rd, 5:45p.m.; and Wednesday, December 4th, 10:00 a.m. All sessions will be held at the Culver-Palms Family YMCA’s Family Room. Lots going on at the Westside Unity Church – in addition to their regular Sunday services the church offers Wednesday Meditation from 6:30 – 6:45 p.m., followed by a Healing Service, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. This Wednesday presents an opportunity share life’s challenges, learn from each other and pray for each other, and will be facilitated by Rev. James Daly. Upcoming on Saturday, November 16 at 1:00 p.m., the Masters of Now presents “Bringing in the New World,” a theatrical concert event using narrative, music and visuals. It is a story of an Everyman who would like to make a difference but doesn’t know where to start. The audience will follow his personal journey to discover his piece of the bigger picture, discovering that everyone plays an important role in the expanding process of global transformation. This event is a fundraiser to benefit Rev. James Daly’s hip surgery, and admittance is by a love offering. Westside Unity is located at 10724 Barman Avenue.

Culver City Exchange Club Past President Earl Eskridge reported at last week’s meeting that long-time member Sam Feingold is not doing well, and asked members to keep him in their thoughts and prayers.

From Dr. Bruce Eskovitz comes word that the Bruce Eskovitz Jazz Orchestra will be making a rare appearance at Typhoon restaurant Tuesday, November 12. There will be shows at 8:00 and 9:30p.m. with a $7.00 cover charge for the event. The band will feature jazz greats Billy Kerr, Jeff Jarvis, Lee Thornburg, Nick Lane, Adam Cohen, Mark Balling and Dick Weller, with a guest appearance by 13 year-old guitar wizard, Spencer Lemann. Wowzah! This Sunday, November 10th Donna Sternberg & Dancers will present “Dark Energy,” beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building, 4117 Overland Avenue. The program begins in the Rotunda Room, then moves to the outside plaza! Featured are Amanda Adams, Erin Bond, Lindsay Marquino, Cassandra Richards and Evan Swenson. The Culver City Rock & Mineral Club’s November meeting takes place next Monday, November 11 at 7:30 p.m. The program, “Tips and Tricks at the Jeweler’s Bench,” will be presented by club President Brad Smith, jeweler, teacher, and author. His background includes a career in industrial automation, working with computers, machines, and robots used in product and design and manufacturing.
