Currently for sale are umbrellas and blankets with images of historic Culver City, books written by our city historian Julie Lugo Cerra, notecards, and other fun items. More music (we think) going on this Sunday, February 10 – this time it’s a Talent Show and Potluck beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church. The talent is always well-received, with some really interesting acts (must be under three minutes in length), you can be sure. All acts are welcome. Coming up this Tuesday, February 5 is the Culver City Garden Club’s monthly meeting, set for 7 p.m. at Star Education, 10117 Jefferson Blvd. (between Raintree & Duquesne). The speaker will be Jim Hogue, CSU Northridge, whose topic – and here’s a new spin – will be “Encouraging Beneficial Insects to Stay in Your Garden.” Along with the program will be refreshments, a plant “Show, Tell & Ask” session and a raffle. Guests are always invited, green thumb or not!

The Culver City Friends of the Library’s next event is February story time, with Culver City School Board Member Laura Chardiet at the library this Tuesday, February 5 at 7:00 pm to do the honors. The library, officially known as the Culver City Julian Dixon Library, is located at 4975 Overland Avenue. Coming soon will be details on the annual “Edible Books Festival,” and members are already thinking about just what kind of edible book they might want to create.
