You want your children to have a beautiful planet ? Step right up and share your smarts! Environmental Sustainability Committee – Application Period Open! The application period is now open to appoint members for a new two-year term to the Environment Sustainability Committee (ESC).
Due to an ongoing interest by community members and parents, the Culver City Unified School District founded a resident-led environmental task force that advises and works with District staff on a range of environmental issues, including state and federal regulations and programs, transportation, water, renewable energy, safe routes to school, recycling, nutrition, school gardens, solar energy, and environmental education. On July 27, 2010, the Board of Education approved the formation of an Environmental Sustainability Committee by the Interim Superintendent at that time.
The Environmental Sustainability Committee has a formal selection process and regularly scheduled meetings. To appoint the Environmental Sustainability Committee, the Superintendent will advertise and have an application form online on the Culver City Unified School District website.
The Board of Education and the Superintendent will review the applications and resumes and appoint seven (7) Environmental Sustainability Committee representatives for a two (2) year term based on their qualifications and experience, diversity of expertise and any other demonstration of interest in “green” and /or sustainability development issues.
All members of the Environmental Sustainability Committee will be asked to sign a Conflict of Interest Pledge.
The applications will be available on the Culver City Unified School District website on October 12, 2012 and close on October 26, 2012. The Board of Education and the Superintendent will review the applications and resumes during the week of October 29, 2012. The Environmental Sustainability Committee representatives will be appointed on November 13, 2012.
