Dear Editor- Fleet Street Gratitude

Dear Editor,

May I please use the pages of Culver City Crossroads to give a huge shout-out to all the local businesses that allowed us to put signs for the high school’s production of Sweeney Todd in their windows? This is the third time that I have gone to businesses on Sepulveda Blvd. between La Ballona Creek and Washington asking businesses to let me put a sign up in their windows, and pretty much every single small local business has said “Sure, go ahead.” It is so heart-warming to know that our local businesses support the high school. I know that other parents who went to other parts of town asking to put up signs had the same experience.

So if you visit a store or service and they have a Sweeney Todd sign up, please thank them for supporting the high schools performances this weekend. They are awesome.

And if you saw a sign and it inspired you to want to see the show, here is the link for tickets:avpasweeneytodd-eorg.eventbrite.com/

  1. I will make it a point to patronize businesses with the poster in the window if I possibly can.

This kind of local support is critical for the students in Culver City who have worked so hard to bring this production to the Culver City community. I know they’ve been working for many, many weeks and it would be great to see a good turnout to see this Sondheim masterpiece.

See you all at the Robert Frost Auditorium this week!

  2. I also look for businesses that display AVPA posters, and try to support them when possible… also restaurants that donate food to school fundraisers. I’ve walked posters around before, and it’s revealing to see who posts them and who says no – and we don’t support those in the second category.

Glad it went well – see you at the show!!

  3. In addition to the local businesses helping our kids by displaying Sweeney posters, I am also grateful to CC Crossroads for unwavering support of the AVPA, and to Clear-Channel for displaying our Sweeney ad on their electronic billboards. All of these help us reach members of our community who would not otherwise know about the show, and I am extremely grateful.
