Peace Project at Whole 9 Gallery

The Peace Project, an international collaborative art competition and exhibition created to connect peace-minded individuals everywhere, at The Whole 9 Gallery in Culver City. More than 500 artists from around the world, working in diverse mediums, submitted creative interpretations of peace, with a jury selecting the top 150 works for the Peace Project exhibit.

Famed photographer Pep Bonet’s http://www.pepbonet.com/ work will be jointly exhibited with The Peace Project in a show titled “Faith in Chaos.” In the exhibit, black-and-white images document the harsh realities of civil war in Sierra Leone while illuminating the human strength and spirit to persevere. This exhibit also travels to San Francisco and New York this fall.

Leading up to World Peace Day, community peace walls will be created simultaneously in Los Angeles (outside Gallery 9) and in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Renowned artist and community activist Steven Lopez will create the centerpiece of the Los Angeles peace wall.The exhibit runs September 25 through November 6, 2010
