Senator Curren Price Connects with Internet Town Hall

What is going on with the California State Budget? Will the budget plan recently released by Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg and Speaker John A. Perez affect you? Do you have questions for members of the Legislature? Then please join a live internet town hall meeting on Thursday, August 26th at 6:30 p.m.
The Conference Committee budget provides a credible path to closing the budget gap facing California. It makes significant expenditure reductions and proposes a tax reform plan that provides Californians tax relief and stabilizes state revenue by reducing the amount of California tax dollars lost to the federal government.
Here are a few of the important policy items in the budget proposal released last week:

* Rejects the Governor’s $4 billion cut to K-12 education
* Rejects the Governor’s proposal to eliminate CalWORKS
* Rejects the Governor’s proposal to eliminate child care services
* Cuts the state sales tax nearly in half by 2012

The internet can be a direct line for you to participate in your local government. If you have a question, or you want to hear what others are concerned about, this is for you.
