If you are downtown this week, you might see a member of the Culver City Fire Department holding out a boot. They are not suggesting a change of footwear, they want you to donate to the Muscular Dystrophy Association to help “Jerry’s Kids.”
Culver City Crossroads ran into Kevin Carlson, a 25 -year veteran of the Fire Department, along with Gabriella Estrada and Cynthia Pacheco. Estrada, who walks with a noticable limp, described herself as a “benefactor” of the MDA. “They help us out a lot, with medical care and support. I’m really grateful. I don’t know how I would make it without them.” Pacheco, a friend, agreed that their support was important.
Carlson wanted everyone to know that the CCFD would be downtown through the end of the week, collecting donations. So whatever you have on your feet, be it boots, sandals or clogs, walk yourself over and make a donation to fight muscular dystrophy.
