L.A. GOAL, a nonprofit that provides programs and employment for adults with disabilities including 22 Artists through our art program, Inside Out Productions, celebrated our 36th Annual Fall Exhibition last Saturday.
The show, Mind & Sentiment, was an expression of both emotion and empowerment. Our Artists each built a series of interconnected works on topics that interested them, and expressed their feelings through color and technique.
Mind & Sentiment showcased artwork from more than 30 different artists with developmental disabilities, including from our employed artist program and our emerging art classes. They presented work from multiple mediums, including painting, ceramics, fiber art, collage, drawing, and multimedia work.
250 members of the community attended the show, and 48 of our 105 original art pieces sold. Each Artist had their own booth to highlight their work and have the opportunity to discuss their work with patrons.
Lisa F., an Artist with Inside Out Productions since the early 2000’s, had this to say about the show: “I had two pieces in the art show, The Moon, The Earth, The Stars and The Colorful Umbrella (pictured above) [The first piece was] a painting with ceramics. I like the idea of doing different mediums, I just do. It was extra creative. [My favorite part of the show] was getting to talk to people and my friends. The art show makes me feel excited to see the artwork. Both my pieces sold!”
Amoura Gonzalez, the Assistant Director of Arts, was happy with the success of the show. “The art show gave the Artists a real opportunity to speak about their art and express themselves fully. Encouraging the Artists to attend this year helped build their self esteem as artists, giving them a chance to explain their art in their
own words. The show itself was an amazing experience because it showcased a lot of unique talents, not only in traditional art but also mixed media, and art that exemplified a wide range of emotion.”
At the exhibition, there was also a section dedicated to work that will be presented for a collaborative exhibition called CORE, led by ABLE Arts. This exhibition will be open to the public starting November 6th. Inside Out Productions continues to operate year-round and is currently preparing for the annual Holiday Boutique, which will run on December 5, 2026 and is open to the public.
