Known for her playful focus on movement and choreography, Marks says” A Deer Walks into a Dance is a take on the familiar beginning of a joke, which most often goes like this: “So, a horse walks into a bar…” (the barman asks, “Why the long face?”) There is not a deer in this dance: Only a case of mistaken identity. Performers shifting identities between imagined worlds, real worlds, and real lives.”
