This Saturday, May 16 at 2 p.m., the Wende presents the next installment of our experimental FRAMEWORKS music series! Sonic Intersections is a live interdisciplinary performance by harpist and poet Zora Nelson and composer-producer Amira Zia Jafri.
In this 2026 season of FRAMEWORKS, each featured artist develops a site-specific, interdisciplinary performance that reflects on the relationship between space, as a functional and measurable record of cities and cultures, and place, as a conceptual and felt imagining of the familiar or alien.
Blending harp, viola, poetry, and electronic textures, Nelson and Jafri move fluidly between jazz, classical orchestration, spoken word, and avant-garde experimentation. Inspired by the Wende’s recent exhibition Intersections: The Architecture of Victor Adegbite and Charles Polónyi in Ghana, their work celebrates the Ghanaian capital of Accra as an epicenter of cultural exchange, political imagination, and creative renewal.
