Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids continue to terrorize immigrant communities across Los Angeles County, with repeated aggressive operations at Home Depot stores.
ICE has engaged in racial profiling, harassment, and violence against individuals who gather at Home Depot parking lots looking for work. ICE raids at Home Depot stores around Los Angeles and the nation have led to the detention, abuse, and death of immigrant workers, including Carlos Roberto Montoya, who died last August fleeing an ICE raid in Monrovia.
Pablo Alvarado, co-Executive Director of the National Day Labor Organizing Network said: “Home Depot must take responsibility—your lots have become targets for ICE, and silence is not neutrality. Stand with workers, speak up, and scrape ICE off your properties.”
NDLON and partner organizations are calling on Home Depot to immediately:
1. Publicly condemn ICE raids on its property; and
2. Commit to creating safe, welcoming spaces for all people, regardless of immigration
status
To honor Dr. Martin Luther King’s commitment to social justice, on January 18, 2026 community members will convene at the Home Depot store in Ladera Heights to conduct an Ice Scraper “buy-in” (purchase and return) to stand up for justice for day laborers and immigrants.
Participants will call on Home Depot to stop allowing ICE to conduct illegal actions on their properties.
Home Depot has failed to protect workers and customers. Silence in the face of this violence makes Home Depot complicit. This action is a peaceful but critical effort to demand accountability. Our community demands safety and justice for all workers.
