Los Angeles Business Council announced on Friday, November 21, 2025, the winners of LABC’S 55th Architectural Awards, honoring organizations that are uniting Angelenos around celebrating innovative designs that reflect the region’s leadership in culture, sports and mobility.
Among the structures honored at the awards were the Glorya Kaufman Community Center at the Wende Museum, and the Helms Bakery.
The Glorya Kaufman Community Center at the Wende Museum won a design award in the Education category. The Architect: AUX Architecture, Landscape Architect: SQLA, Inc. & Michael Boyd, Contractor: Shawmut Design and Construction, Building Owner: City of Culver City, Building Developer: The Wende Museum. Blending adaptive reuse with sustainable design, it honors Cold War history while creating a vibrant hub for culture and connection.
Helms Bakery won a design award in the Retail category. Architect of Record: Oakes Architects, Inc., Interior Designer: Studio UNLTDBuilding Owner, Developer and Contractor: Walter N. Marks, Inc. Within the historic site of the fabled Helms Bakery, which delivered its last bread in 1969, rises a majestic market hall whose renovation is defined by a balance of materials, a consistent palette, and a repetition of bespoke details subtly reinterpreted throughout the space and set aglow by a flood of natural light.
Over 500 leading architects, designers, building owners, developers, and city and state officialsattended the awards ceremony at the Beverly Wilshire. Winners were selected by a jury panel of industry experts, including architects, construction firms, owners, and developers from a pool of hundreds of submissions.
More than 46 awards were presented, with the Grand Prize Award going to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art for the David Geffen Galleries and the Chairman’s Award going to the LAX/Metro Transit Center and Intuit Dome.
