Board Approves $2.5 Million Funding Agreement With City of Culver City

At its October 28 meeting, the Culver City Board of Education passed the CC Funding Agreement by a vote of 4-0. CCUSD is thankful to Culver City for committing these funds to support our District. Key highlights of the funding agreement included:

The City will provide a one-time $2,500,000 donation to the District.

The funds are intended to help CCUSD fill its budget shortfall, meet its state-mandated reserve, continue benefits for employees, and retain educators and staff.

CCUSD agrees to place a parcel tax measure on the ballot in 2026 to raise ongoing revenue to address the budget gap. The District has flexibility on timing (June or November 2026) and need not place more than one parcel tax if a “citizens committee”-driven measure qualifies.

CCUSD agrees to explore market-rate and/or mixed-income housing developments on District property (per the Brookwood Report) to generate additional revenue.

The City is invited to participate in CCUSD budget-related activities: attend the CCUSD Community Budget Advisory Committee meetings, attend CCUSD meetings with the County Office of Education regarding the budget, and receive updates via the CCUSD–City Council Liaison Subcommittee.

CCUSD commits to work on enrollment strategies (recruit/retain students) and present those to the Board and share with the City Council.

The District should receive these funds in about three weeks.
