On Friday, August 8, 2025, Assembly member Isaac Bryan joined with Governor Gavin Newsom, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, and Speaker of the Assembly Robert Rivas, along with many other political representatives at the Capital building in Sacramento. Their formal support for the option of redistricting in the state to balance the democratic crisis in other states highlighted the need for transparency and
“When an unprecedented power grab … threatens to destabilize the foundations of our democracy, we can and must do everything necessary to stand in the way. That is who we are in California.” Bryan spoke to the gathering.
The proposed redistricting maps for California will be publicly available, and voters will be given the choice to adopt the changes.
