The Culver Arts Foundation’s June presentation of Projecting Possibilities at the Helms Design District features the landscape art of Maria Kurtz. The after-hours art show features a new artist each month, their work is projected nightly.
Her landscapes and light of coastal California serve as an ongoing source of inspiration for her work. Through her paintings, Maria seeks to capture the stillness, beauty, and restorative qualities of nature—reflecting her belief that “nature is a blessing.”
“My love and passion for art started at a very young age. I was born and raised in Italy where I gained my college degree in art.” Kurtz observed on her own history and her creative impulses. “Inspired by the ever-present array of Italian art and culture, my dreams began to unfold on canvas. After experimenting with many mediums such as acrylic, water and colored pencil, I finally found my niche working with oil. I try to capture the peace and serenity of nature. I hope to share that with you in my art.”
