Let’s go through “A Hole in the Fence,” shall we? Donnie Norden aka “Phantom of the Backlots” is a longtime resident of Culver City and author of a popular series of books which chronicles his real-life experiences on the studio backlots. His admiration for the backlots influenced his long career working for the studios, including over 30 years at Universal.
On Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 7 pm, the program at the Historical Society at 4117 Overland will hear Norden’s tales of years secretly exploring movie studio backlots.
In the 1970s the studio walls, fences and gates were no barrier to an explorer lured by the wonder of the magic factories. His adventures led to his 30-year career in the film business, authoring several books and a website with fascinating stories of his adventures; the Culver City Historical Society is pleased to host this live program filled with awesome true stories guaranteed to amaze you.
