While the season of storms may or may not be over, infrastructure is still struggling to keep up with the vast amount of water moving through the city. A lengthy section of the bike path that goes under Sepulveda Boulevard and comes up again past Sawtelle Boulevard has seen intermittent closures due to flooding from an outfall. Because this is in the City of Los Angeles, it is overseen by the LA Dept. of Water and Power, and not our own Public Works Dept.
While the closure was first posted March 28, 2024, the Los Angeles DWP is still investigating if the problem is a broken water main, or if the excess is just from rainfall. Cyclists heading west are advised to exit the path at Sepulveda and re-renter at the Sawtelle gate.
