Final Community Meeting on Redesign of Botts, Vets Parks – Feb. 8

Culver City has hosted a series of community meetings on the future of Vets Memorial Park and Bill Botts Field, starting last October. The next meeting, on Feb. 8, 2024 from 6 to 8 pm, looks to be the final gathering to ask for community input.

From the City, “[We are] envisioning the future for Bill Botts Fields and Veterans Memorial Park—and we want to hear from you! The Bill Botts Fields and Veterans Memorial Park Feasibility Study is a comprehensive visioning project to determine how these two parks will accommodate the community’s 21st century needs for indoor and outdoor recreational, community meeting, event and cultural facilities. The study will take an extensive look at the parks and facilities located at each site.”

While some members of the city council advocated for a study that would have included all parks in the city, so that needs could be addressed across the board, the majority voted to confine the redesign to only Vets and Botts.

This meeting will be the end of the first stage of the process, and will begin more discussion with both the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and the City Council, should the choose to move forward with the process.

The Boneyard, Culver City’s dog park, which is adjacent to Bill Botts Field, is not being considered for redesign.

The full history of the previous meetings, including the minutes and the powerpoint presentations, are available on the City’s website at  www.culvercity.org/Explore/Parks-Recreation/Feasibility-Study?
