Stephon and Kaito Litwinczuk Create Film on Suicide Awareness

Last June, CCUSD organized a team to walk in the Out of the Darkness Community Walk to bring attention to suicide awareness.

The community walks, held in hundreds of cities across the country, are the core of the Out of the Darkness movement, which began in 2004. These events give people the courage to open up about their own connections to the cause, and a platform to create a culture that’s smarter about mental health. Friends, family members, neighbors and coworkers walk side-by-side, supporting each other and in memory of those we’ve lost.

The father-and-son team of Stephon and Kaito Litwinczuk, a student at CCHS, produced a new video that encourages everyone to be there for one another and take steps to safeguard our mental health and prevent suicide. Riley, mentioned in the video, is the CCHS student who took her own life during the pandemic. CCUSD never shared the name or cause of death of this student, but her mother, Bridget McCarthy, is a strong advocate of teaching people and sharing her family’s story.
