The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is sponsoring a study to understand possible health impacts on residents that live near the Inglewood Oil Field. The study will be conducted by researchers from UCLA, and they are seeking the public’s participation with this effort.

In early 2023, you may receive a letter by mail inviting you to participate. More than 500 randomly selected households within 1.5 miles of the oil field will receive invitation letters to participate. Participation is completely voluntary and confidential. Participants will receive a $20 gift card as a ‘thank you’ on completing the study. Should you agree to participate, your contributions will include:

• Completing a health questionnaire
• Taking a blood pressure measurement
• Taking a lung function measurement

This study is being conducted as required by the Baldwin Hills Community Standards District Settlement Agreement and Mutual Release and has been approved by the UCLA Institutional Review Board for the protection of human subjects (IRB # 21-001613).
