CC Chamber Gets New President/CEO: Jessie Nuñez

After an extensive national search, the Board of the Culver City Chamber of Commerce announced the hiring today of entrepreneur and former Dodgers executive Jesse Nuñez as the new Chamber President & CEO.

Nuñez, who has founded and run two of his own businesses, was most recently founder and CEO of 5MX Incorporated, a mobile digital brand development platform startup. In that role, he led fundraising efforts; secured a variety of athletes, actors and celebrities for development of individual brand apps; and negotiated and approved national and international contracts with vendors, suppliers, federal and state agencies, and other relevant organizations.

“Jesse has a keen business sense, the ability to understand the needs of our local job creators and the skill to communicate the Chamber’s mission and goals to the community,” said Board Chair Maria Jacobo.

“I am excited and proud to join the Chamber at this critical juncture in its history,” Nuñez said. “As a proud advocate of job creators in Culver City, my intent to keep the Chamber at the forefront of remaining vocal in its advocacy for policies that will grow jobs, create a balanced opportunity for success for those job creators of all sizes, and have a positive impact on all of the communities that we serve.”

Before starting 5MX Incorporated, Nuñez spent three years in roles of increasing responsibility working in the Partnerships & Revenue Division of the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he handled Spanish media and Latino initiatives.

A 1990 graduate of Loyola Marymount University, Nuñez holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and is the vice president of the Jaime & Blanca Jarrin Foundation, which he co-founded with the Dodgers’ Hall-of-Fame broadcaster to serve and support charitable, educational and athletic programs in the local Los Angeles Area, as well as for those in need internationally.

“We look forward to working with Jesse, and welcome him to Culver City, where we know he will continue to take the Chamber to new heights,” said Jacobo, who added that the board of directors appreciates the efforts of long-time chamber member and board member David Voncannon who has served as Interim CEO during the search and transition process. “David has done a great job holding down the fort while we have conducted this exhaustive search. We thank him for his commitment and commitment to the Chamber during this time.”
