WLAC to Screen “LA Queer History” Along with Free Vaccinations – Oct. 26

In honor of LGBTQ+ Month, there will be a free screening of “LA: A Queer History” at West Los Angeles College on Wednesday, October 26 at 1:00 pm in the Fine Arts Theater. Free COVID and Monkeypox vaccinations will be available outside of the theater from noon to 4:00 p.m. on the same day. Visitors can park for free all day in the campus Parking Structure which is immediately adjacent to the theater.

A short panel discussion will accompany the screening led by Los Angeles Community College District Board member David Vela, the first openly gay Trustee on the nation’s largest community college district board and the film makers.

“LA: A Queer History” is a documentary by Gregorio Davila that looks at how Los Angeles became the forefront of the LGBTQ+ civil rights movement as activists share their groundbreaking stories of resistance in one-on-one interviews and rare archival footage.

A mobile COVID and Monkey Pox vaccination clinic, provided by Flugent, will administer free vaccinations on a first-come, first-serve basis until supplies run out. People are asked to bring a photo ID and their vaccination cards if they have them. Anyone who has insurance is asked to bring their insurance card, however, insurance is not required to receive a vaccination.

West is located at 9000 Overland Avenue, Culver City, CA 90230 near Jefferson Blvd. Bus riders can catch the #3 or #4 Culver City Green Bus to the heart of campus. The Fine Arts Theater is located on the southeast corner of campus adjacent to the only multi-level parking structure on campus.
