The downtown plaza was full of melody on Thursday, April 7, 2022 as the “Sounds of the Steps” opened its first evening with Geena Fontanella.
Fontanella offered some charming vocals, accompanying herself on guitar and with some pre-recorded instrumental backgrounds. Some terrific originals songs, and a number of current pop standards were all delivered with aplomb. As the evening overtook the afternoon, the lack of lighting on the artist was a bit of challenge, but the performance was enjoyed by the crowd. A few people dancing, a few singing along with some favorites; the launch was subtle but sincere.
The new offering of music on Thursdays is scheduled to run through the end of September at the open air picnic tables and patio plaza at the Culver Steps, featuring solo artists serenading through the evenings
Next week will offer Tyler F. Simmons as the troubadour, and with the warm weather looking to stay, it will be the ideal spot for to share some music with friends.
