Dear Editor – Coyote Sightings in Culver City

Dear Editor,
There have been coyote sightings recently in Culver City, serving as a reminder to us to keep our pets (especially cats) inside and make sure that our yards are free of food sources. The Culver City Police Department has been active in handling coyote problems by setting up a designated coyote sighting hotline at (310) 253-6141, as well as a Coyote Management Program that can be accessed at www.culvercitypd.org. Other CCPD contact information includes a direct email address which is [email protected], and the general Culver City Animal Services telephone number: (310) 253-6143.

In addition, Dr. Eric Strauss and Dr. Melinda Weaver of the Center for Urban Resilience at Loyola Marymount University have been actively involved in monitoring and studying the activities of Culver City coyotes. Coyote information can also be found on the Friends of Culver City Animals website, www.friendsofculvercityanimals.org under the “Wildlife” tab.

Please keep yourselves and your pets safe, and do not hesitate to notify CCPD if you observe our coyote visitors.
