DTCC Treats CCHS Senior Class to a Sunday Afternoon Celebration

Putting together a scavenger hunt and a stroll, Downtown Culver City offered the Senior Class of 2021 Culver City High School a post-pandemic Sunday to savor.

With every member of the senior class represented on a Centaur pennant, students walked the length of Culver Boulevard to find their flag and then over to the Culver Steps to receive a swag bag with a mask, and tickets to redeem for treats. Rush Street and City Tavern offered brownies, The Auld Fella handed out french fries, Chica’s Tacos offered (you’ll never guess) tacos, and the brand new Upper Crust Pizzeria handed out “huge” slices of pizza.

The organizers even thought to hold the event in the afternoon, knowing that Prom had just happened the night before, and that some seniors might be needing a bit of sleep. The commitment to inclusivity meant that even seniors who were not graduating with the class had a Centaur flag with their name on it, a gentle commemoration to a difficult year.

Hundreds of students turned up for the scavenger hunt, and while not all pennants were redeemed, the kids who went enthused about how much fun it was.

Wild applause for all the organizers and sponsors at the DTCC. Many who attended hope it will be an annual event from here on out.
