Fiesta La Ballona Committee Looks to New Date, New Location for 2021

With the state of California looking to open in mid-June, many in Culver City are looking forward to things opening up, and our social gathers going back to what they once were; but the future can only go forward, and Fiesta is looking to move forward as well.

The meeting of the Fiesta La Ballona Committee on April 7, 2021 discussed moving the date from August to October, and moving the location from Vets Park to Downtown Culver City. The October dates – the 29, 30 and 31 – would make for a Halloween themed Fiesta.

When the Exchange Club’s annual Car Show moved from Downtown to Vets Park, it was seen as a way to have more space for cars and crowds, and relieve the city of the burden of closing all the Downtown streets for the day. But with much of Downtown’s streets already partly or completely closed for outdoor dining, it’s a new option that might help Fiesta to go live after a year of virtual programming.

While the pandemic seems to be waning, the public safety situation is still fluid, and any plans made now can only be considered ‘pencilled in’ at best.

The decision to move the location of the Fiesta needs to be voted on by the City Council, and it is not yet an agenda item posted for any future meetings.
