Joes Segal, curator at the Wende Museum is particularly pleased to announce this week’s Cold War Spaces interview; Susanne Altmann, art historian and the visionary guest curator of The Medea Insurrection: Radical Women Artists Behind the Iron Curtain in Dresden and at the Wende Museum (2019-2020).
Her research has put the seminal role of women artists in the Eastern European unofficial art scenes center stage. I will speak with her about the courage and creativity of these artists from Poland, Czechoslovakia, the GDR, Hungary and Romania, with a special emphasis on Altmann’s current research interest: art projects in nature and in the countryside.
