Culver City Arts Launches Arts Resiliency Fund

In response to the economic hardships many creative individuals and organizations are facing in these difficult times, the Culver City Arts Foundation launched the Arts Resiliency Fund in partnership with the Culver City Chamber of Commerce and Culver City Arts District BID.

As part of the fund, we’re launching the We’ll Pay Your Bills microgrants campaign! The microgrants will be given to Culver City artists in need to pay essential bills. The application process is simple and the funds distributed to ensure accountability and transparency. By targeting immediate, basic support, some of these funds will go to vendors also located in Culver City, recirculated into our economy. These grants are intended for general operating support and essentials (i.e. rent, health care, insurance, utilities, internet, basic supplies).

The Foundation’s goal is to quickly raise $100,000 for the Arts Resiliency Fund and start distribution with grants for up to $1,000 to Culver City artists, then later include arts organizations. “The arts are essential to our recovery, providing comfort, enlightenment, inspiration and of course, entertainment. We want to make sure that our treasured artists and arts organizations will not be forced to close or relocate out of Culver City as they struggle to stay afloat during the pandemic. We are all in this together,” Culver City Arts Foundation President Kathy Sue Holtorf.

Culver City Arts Foundation is asking those in the Culver City community who have weathered the past year to contribute financial support to help the local arts community. Donations to the Culver City Arts Foundation are tax deductible (FEIN 84-1697150) and 100% of the funds will directly support the arts.

Many local businesses have already closed or will close as a result of the pandemic and the public health measures implemented to contain the spread of Covid-19, and a staggering number of artists are out of work.

“Our creative community is essential to what makes Culver City a world-class city with a small-town vibe. And the arts are essential to our mental and physical well-being. By supporting the arts in Culver City, we will help ourselves thrive.” noted Culver City Arts Foundation Vice President Jim Clark.

Donations can be made at www.culverarts.org through GiveButter.com/culverarts or mailed to Culver City Arts Foundation, PO Box 4521, Culver City, CA 90231.

Since its launch in 2019, the Culver City Arts Foundation has been a leader in supporting the arts in Culver City, providing major funding to programs such as the Culver City Performing Arts Grants, the Artist Laureate program, and Small Press Book Fair, as well as art installations, including currently #ProjectingPossibilities, a year-long project with Helms Design Center that highlights a local artist each week.
