Jill Stewart of Livable California and Los Angeles City Councilmember Paul Koretz will both address the Sierra Club meeting of the Airport Marina Group tonight, Feb. 16, 2021 at 7 pm via Zoom.
Hear both Jill and Councilmember Koretz comment on preserving quality of life in our communities and how they believe smart and balanced growth can be achieved while preserving and protecting home ownership, the environment and the urban wildlife as part of the future of Los Angeles and all of California.
We’re all in this together across the country and around the world as we face climate change and ecosystem preservation in the face of burgeoning human needs. Stewart and Koretz address their own clearly put positions and provide analysis on complex land-use, housing, transit and environmental bills that are facing us today.
SB 9 (Atkins) ends Single-Family Zoning. (It’s Identical to SB 1120, the false “duplex” bill.) The 6-units to 8 units. This impacts 21 Million homeowners.
SB 10 (Wiener) This SB 902 look alike bill lets cities ignore CEQA to allow 10-unit pricey market-rate apartments almost anywhere. It allows a City Council to override voter-approved initiatives, an attack on our 108-year-old right to initiative.
Livable California is a nonprofit that advocates for empowerment of local governments to foster equitable, livable communities and truly affordable housing. This statewide non-partisan group includes elected officials, nonprofits, organization leaders and individuals who jointly support housing as a basic right.
