Congresswoman Bass Endorses McMorrin in City Council Race

On the heels of winning the Heart of LA Democratic Club’s only endorsement for Culver City Council, Yasmine McMorrin has received the backing of prominent Congressperson Karen Bass, who represents Culver City in California’s 37th Congressional District.
“I’m endorsing Yasmine-Imani McMorrin because I see in her the desire and will to represent all the people and neighborhoods of Culver City,” said Rep. Bass. “Yasmine has already been involved in efforts to protect and preserve the environment, and is committed to fighting for the health and well-being of everyone who lives, works, and plays in Culver City.”
Serving in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2011, Karen Bass is considered one of the most respected and dynamic Members of Congress. The Democrat’s star rose even further when she was selected for Joe Biden’s short list of prospective running mates in the 2020 Presidential election.
In 2004, Karen Bass became the only African-American woman in the California State legislature. If elected November 3rd, Yasmine-Imani McMorrin will become the first African- American woman on the Culver City Council.
“I am especially honored to receive an endorsement from Karen Bass, a woman I have admired for years,” stated McMorrin.” I have learned so much watching her work in Congress, and in the California Assembly before that. She has served California with profound grace, intelligence, perseverance, and a record of effectiveness. I hope to earn her endorsement every day if elected to the Culver City Council.”
McMorrin has gone to extraordinary lengths to engage Culver City voters, and earn their enthusiastic support. She has participated in numerous candidate forums, hosted Town Hall discussions, produces an ongoing Connect with Yasmine interview series, and provides virtual “Office Hours” for voters to speak with her directly.
The campaign gained early endorsements from Culver City Vice Mayor Alex Fisch, Council Members Daniel Lee and Meghan Sahli-Wells, Culver City School Board President Summer McBride, and School Board Member Dr. Kelly Kent.
