  1. There are only 48 slots available for this program. From what I understand, this is because space at the Senior Center is limited and there is WiFi at the Senior Center, but not at the City Parks.

On Monday, August 18th, Paula Amezola, current chair of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission and candidate for Culver City School Board of Governors spoke in favor of getting WiFi to the parks and expanding this program to the students who may need it the most. The issues of getting WiFi to the parks was on the consent calendar on Monday night, but discussion of expanding the childcare programs will have to be agendized. At Monday’s meeting Amezola and two other speakers addressed the unfairness of excluding CCUSD students were are on permit from this program. Daniel Lee, Meghan Sahli-Wells and other council members expressed support for putting the expansion of this program on the agenda for a future meeting. If residents agree that this program would be important to offer to more students and families, they should express this to the city council members as well as to the parks and recreation commissioners.
