Oil Drilling Subcommittee Meeting Tonight – Focus on Amortization Study

The Oil Drilling Subcommittee of the city council may have to adopt another title; the No More Drilling SubCommittee. With the release tonight, June 4, 2020 of the amortization study, the city will be reckoning the cost of shutting down drilling on the Culver City owned slice of the Baldwin Hills Inglewood Oil Field.  The subcommittee, Vice-Mayor Alex Fisch and Council Member Meghan Sahli-Wells, will meet virtually to discuss and consider public input on the following items:

Presentation of an Amortization Study for the Culver City Portion of the Inglewood Oil Field. City’s consultant, Baker & O’Brien, prepared a Capital Investment Amortization Study for the Culver City portion of the Inglewood Oil Field, which will be presented to the Subcommittee and the public. The Amortization Study is available for review here.

Discussion of Potential Amortization Program. The Subcommittee will consider how the financial analysis, findings and conclusions presented in the Amortization Study could be used to inform future decisions related to the Culver City portion of the Inglewood Oil Field, including options for a potential amortization program of oil and gas operations within the City and, if desired, make recommendations to the City Council as deemed appropriate.

The findings of the Amortization Study and other pertinent information, along with any recommendations of the Subcommittee, will be presented to the City Council at a future meeting date, which is anticipated to be sometime this summer.

The Subcommittee meeting will take place on June 4, 2020 at 5:00 PM. Please see instructions below on how to participate in the meeting and submit public comments.
