Wende (pronounced “venda”), a German word meaning “turning point” or “change,” is often used to describe the period of political transformation following the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany. The mission of the Wende Museum is to preserve the past in order to inform the present. As an institution named for change, we are dedicated to collecting and sharing personal stories, experiences, and reflections in response to major historical shifts.
In our current moment of change, we invite our community to express and share stories of their own “wende”. We welcome digital responses in all media including ephemera (i.e. scans of receipts, news clippings), photographs, writing, poetry, video, music, and visual arts.
