Can conservation expand during the pandemic? The Baldwin Hills Conservancy is looking to expand it’s authority all the way to the Pacific Ocean, and leader David McNeill will be addressing the Airport-Marina Sierra Club meeting to discuss the benefits.
The Baldwin Hills Conservancy operates under the Natural Resources Agency for the State of California. As Executive Officer, David McNeill oversees long-term acquisition and planned development of approximately two-square miles of open space into much needed parkland for urban Southwest Los Angeles County.
David has directed expansion and improvement efforts, yielding over $50 million in State Bond Funded projects resulting in nearly 40 capital improvement projects, a 30% increase in public lands in the territory, and dozens of planning, programming and outreach activities essential to optimizing the management of the unique resources in Baldwin Hills and the Ballona Creek Watershed. Efforts are now underway to expand the Baldwin Hills Conservancy to the ocean.
