Art Goes On: ‘Slave Play’ Coming to the Taper

Center Theatre Group  delighted to announce that ‘Slave Play’ by Jeremy O. Harris, “a major new voice in the American theater” (Chicago Tribune), will be a part of their 2020/2021 Season at the Taper. The inaugural Sherwood Award recipient Robert O’Hara, who directed the show on Broadway, will be back along with the rest of the original creative team.

This will be the first engagement of Slave Play outside of New York. How do you launch a play in the middle of a pandemic? “One thing that’s giving me hope is that I will be able to share this play again with a community that means so much to me,” said Harris of Los Angeles, where he lived for six years. “Center Theatre Group has sat at the height of places where I want to be.”
