Wende Online – Private Spaces in the Soviet Union

This Wednesday, April 29, 2020, the British cultural historian and Soviet specialist Susan E. Reid will join Wende Museum’s Chief Curator and Director of Programming Joes Segal to discuss “Private Space in the Soviet Union”: the tensions between state control and privacy, the boundaries between the public and the private, mainstream vs. countercultural interiors, and much more.

This is the first conversation in the series “Cold War Spaces,” every Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. with Q&A. Next week (May 6) Segal will speak with architectural historian Vladimir Kulić about “Public Space under Socialism,” one week later (May 13) with Dagmar Hovestädt, Spokeswoman for the Federal Commissioner for the Stasi Records, about “Secret Space and Secret Service.”

Conversations are all scheduled for noon.
