Red Flag Fire Warning for LA County – Oct. 10 to Oct. 12

The National Weather Service has announced that a moderate to strong Santa Ana wind event will bring widespread critical fire weather conditions to Los Angeles County beginning early Thursday morning and continuing through Friday evening, possibly into Saturday. The combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can lead to the increased possibility of a wildfire event.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services have pre-positioned additional firefighters and equipment in areas identified as having elevated risk of wind-driven wildfires. Residents are reminded that 90% of wildfires are caused by human activity and are asked to call 9-1-1 at the first sign of smoke or fire.
