Tribute to the Stars, the annual Culver City Education Foundation event happening this coming Saturday May 4, 2019, will be honoring Kim Etheredge, the co-founder of Mixed Chicks, along with many of the volunteers and employees who keep CCUSD up as one of the best districts in the country.
Mixed Chicks was founded in 2003 as a line of hair products aimed at biracial women. Being biracial, Etheredge faced a myriad of challenges in identifying proper hair care products for her combination hair. When she met Wendi Levy at a part, she discovered Levy was facing the same problems as Etheredge – as mixed women, they struggled to find hair products aimed at their combination hair. Their line of hair products can now be found in national stores, such as Target and Walgreens, and in more than 1,500 stores internationally. On top of that, Mixed Chicks has also doubled its profit every year since its inception.
Etheredge studied at West Los Angeles College in Culver City, California.
