CC Foodie – Dear John’s Gets Lucky in an Unexpected Way

While the most recent incarnation of Dear John’s as a bar called Lucky’s did not prove to be good fortune, maybe the next life will have better karma; it certainly has some star power behind it, with renowned baker Hans Rockenwager and Michelin-starred Melisse owner Josiah Citrin  taking over the iconic red and white building at the corner of Culver and Sepulveda Boulevards for a one-year long residency.

Rockenwagner and Citrin sent out a charming “Dear John” letter as a press release, offering that they will open in the beginning of April 2019, and close in April of 2021 ‘when the lease is permanently up, and we will have to make way for a new development.”

In the meanwhile, they will be open for dinner only Tuesday through Saturdays, offering a menu of “updated American classics and old-school cocktails.”

April 9, 2019 will be the opening of Dear John’s last encore, so “we have 515 days to make each other happy.”
