MidDay @ Grace – Four Cantors

Step out of your weekday routine and into some music this Thursday. Four Los Angeles-area cantors will be featured in the MidDay at Grace concert on Thursday, March 14 at 12:05.  Cantors Jay Frailich, Lonee Frailich, Bryce Megdal and Rebekah Mirsky will perform an eclectic mix of original compositions, Jewish music, and Broadway favorites. Cantor Jay Frailich was invested as a cantor by the Hebrew Union College, Jewish Institute of Religion in New York and was at the University Synagogue for 40 years. He is now the emeritus cantor there and teaches at the Academy of Jewish Religion. Cantor Lonee Frailich, who followed in her father’s footsteps, was ordained in 2011 and is the cantor at Temple Akiba of Culver City. Cantor Bryce Megdal, a gifted composer whose compositions have been shared in many synagogues, is in her last year of cantorial school and will be ordained in May. Cantor Rebekah Mirsky is a prolific composer and founding cantor at Beit T’shuvah. She was ordained in 2010 and now works at the Santa Monica Synagogue and B’nai Horin. After the 45 minute concert, cookies and coffee will be served while we visit with the cantors in the Fireside room next door.

Grace Lutheran is located at 4427 Overland.

Donations before and at the concert will be directed to the Jewish Addiction Awareness Network (JAAN).

JAAN works with clergy, community organizations, families, and individuals across the United States crafting innovative programs from a Jewish perspective that focus on education, advocacy, stigma reduction, and supporting those in crisis.
