Donna Sternberg & Dancers presents Stoneview, a site-specific dance performance at the Stoneview Nature Center. Audience members will follow the dancers as they move throughout the urban garden, stopping along the way for short dance sequences. Each dance section is inspired by signage posted throughout Stoneview that gives information about the plants growing, what the plants signify to different cultures, an important legal case involving farm workers and other interesting tidbits. The dances animate the garden space and bring alive the significance of plants, their mythology, the geography of the area and the beauty contained there.
The site-specific nature of the performance allows the audience to be fully immersed in the environment, and to see it in new ways through the lens of dance. Certified landscape designer Jill Jacobson-Bennett will give a short talk following the performance on native and drought resistant plants. Stoneview will be presented on October 20 at 3:00 PM at the Stoneview Nature Center, 5950 Stoneview Drive, Culver City, CA 90230. Admission is free and there is free parking on site. This performance is made possible, in part, by a Culver City Performing Arts Grant with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment. For photos, interviews or more information, please contact Donna Sternberg at 310-260-1198, [email protected] or visit www.dsdancers.com.
