Save the Date for ‘Thirdsday’ Musical Exploration in Culver City’s Arts District

On the third Thursday of the month flutist Ellen Burr and bassist Jeff Schwartz host “Thirdsdays,” a creative music series at the Industry Cafe and Jazz. Each month one or both of them perform with guests drawn from their extensive careers playing jazz, classical, experimental, and world music at venues including Disney Hall, REDCAT, the Blue Whale, the Carlsbad Music Festival, the Angel City Jazz Festival, and tours of Europe and the Middle East.

For September 20, they welcome drummer Breeze Smith, best known for his work with Dwight Trible, and Vinny Golia, a master of dozens of woodwinds, for two sets of improvised music beginning at 8pm.

Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. The Industry Cafe and Jazz serves awesome Ethiopian and soul food, with vegetarian options and a full bar, and is at 6039 Washington Blvd. in Culver City’s Arts District. Parking can be tight, so walk, ride, carpool, Lyft or Lime; this is going to be a date you will look forward to every month.
