MCLM Black Talkies – Short Films, Rare Newsreels on Black Panther Party

Black Talkies On Parade  presents THE BLACK PANTHER PARTY, Short Films Showing the Continued Relevance of Their Words, Image and Power 50 years later Saturday, April 28th @ 2:30 pm
Black Talkies on Parade presents a program of short films curated by archivist Dino Everett from the USC School of Cinematic Arts Hugh M. Hefner Moving Image Archive. The program will feature several rare newsreels of the Black Panther Party plus REPRESSION: OUTTAKES AFTER THE LAPD RAID (1969) which will be coupled with never-before heard recordings from 1/4 inch audio reel tapes of unidentified Panther Women singing original protest songs including “Black Man,” “Complete Liberation (Free Huey)”, “No More Pigs”, and “Panther Power.”
The afternoon will be hosted by Executive Director Lloyd Clayton and film committee member Shawnee Gibbs will lead a post screening discussion with archivist Dino Everett.
