In the 1950s, America began sending jazz musicians such as Louis Armstrong beyond the Iron Curtain, to countries like Poland, to spread democracy. Today, Jazz Ambassadors continue to travel around the world to share their art and play a role in diplomacy. Can music make democracy? How does art influence politics? Come and be part of the conversation Sunday April 8, 2018 from 10 am to noon. Enjoy live music provided by Darek Oles and The Jazz Bakery and discover the history of jazzocracy—which encompasses the Cold War, the civil rights movement, and more—at brunch before Critical Mass Performance Group‘s Ameryka is onstage at the Kirk Douglas Theater.
No ticket purchase is required to attend.
