Sister Cities Open Potluck to Welcome Japanese Marathon Runners

The Culver City Sister City Committee invites all interested residents to attend a potluck “meet and greet” on Sunday, March 18, from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the home of David and Kathleen Winslow, 11074 Rhoda Way, Culver City. The event is honoring our visitors from our Sister City of Kaizuka, Japan, Rie Minamida and Hiro Ishihara, who are running in the L.A. Marathon that morning, as well as our local runners, Jessica Dorsey and Iyob Tessema, who ran in last month’s Senshu Marathon in Japan. Ms. Dorsey was the winner of the women’s division in that race.
Our hosts will provide homemade pupusas, which are handmade Salvadorian tortillas stuffed with a savory filling and served with Spanish rice. Beverages will also be provided. Guests are asked to bring a dish (main course, salad, fruit, side dish or dessert) and RSVP to Colleen Jones at 310-463-2627 or [email protected]. The family respectfully requests that there be no alcohol, tobacco or pets at the party.
Another opportunity to meet the runners will take place on Tuesday, March 20, between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. at Menchie’s Yogurt, 5622 Sawtelle Blvd., Culver City. A portion of all purchases will be donated to the Sister City Committee.
