Culver CityBus Joins In Anti-Traffic Summer Travel Conference

ida-speaks-may-25-2017_originalTo kick off summer travel, local transportation officials held a press conference at Los Angeles Union Station. Art Ida, the Culver City Transportation Department Director and Chair of LACMOA (Los Angeles County Municipal Operators Association) joined Metrolink Board Chair and City of San Jacinto Councilmember Andrew Kotyuk and Dave Golonski, the former chair and current board member of the LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency, which manages Amtrak/Pacific Surfliner service to share the message that public transportation is the best way for tourists and those vacationing at home this summer to experience what makes Southern California a premier tourist destination — while beating world-class traffic.

“People who use our systems don’t see a distinction between a train, a subway or a bus. They just want to be able to get where they want to go,” said Ida. “Though Southern California is famous for traffic, people don’t visit to sit in traffic. Traffic is a problem that can be avoided by using public transportation.”

Ida summed up his comments by saying that local transit systems are working to use regional partnerships to not only take riders to iconic destinations, but also to highlight our cities and communities as destinations with more to explore. “We can take you anywhere you need to go,” Ida said and welcomed riders saying that he and other local agencies “look forward to seeing you on our systems soon.”
