steps-baldwin-hills-scenic-overlookWhat better way to savor inspirational language than being out in nature? Culver City will enjoy a  poetry reading at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook next Saturday, October 24, at 5 p.m. in the Pavilion structure. The reading, part of a new Poetry in Parks campaign spearheaded by California Parks archeologist Scott Green, is free and open to the public.
Award-winning local poets, Brandon Som, Lynne Thompson, and Amy Uyematsu will join Marci Vogel to celebrate her new collection, ‘ At the Border of Wilshire & Nobody‘ winner of the Howling Bird Press Poetry Prize.

Marci Vogel was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Her poems, essays, and translations have appeared in FIELD, Poet Lore, Plume, Jacket2, and Drunken Boat, among others. A first-generation college student, she is currently a doctoral candidate in the Creative Writing and Literature Program at the University of Southern California. A former local columnist, Vogel began writing poetry in her forties and has had great success.
