Would you like to construct your own radio transmitter, program with electronics or light up a stuffed toy? The Willows Community School presents a Superheroes of the Maker Movement Day to do all this and more on Sunday, February 22, 2015, starting at 10:00 a.m. on The Willows Campus at 8509 Higuera Street, Culver City, 90232. Events include a Panel Discussion with the Maker Superheroes, Maker Activities for kids age four through second grade, and hands-on workshops for children in third through eighth grade and young adults.
The teen Makers leading the day’s events are Sylvia Todd, Schuyler St. Leger, and Quin Etnyre. Sylvia is the Host and Producer of web-based Sylvia’s Super-Awesome Maker Show and author of “Sylvia’s Super-Awesome Project Book.” Schuyler St. Leger (“Why I love My 3D Printer.”) is a speaker and tech wiz featured in Make magazine and The New York Times. Quin Etnyre is CEO of his own tech start-up, QTechKnow, and a teacher of Arduino to MIT grad students. Gary Stager, Ph.D., an internationally acclaimed educator and author of Invent to Learn, is hosting the event.
