Britta and Göran Eriksson and their company, EuroVAT Refund, Inc., took up a collection from their employees and made a company contribution as well to help fund the Culver City Backpacks for Kids program. The $1,255 raised will support the CCUSD Backpacks for Kids Program, which provides food to CCUSD students who may not have access to healthy food during the weekend. Parents and staff work together to identify students in need. Parents and student volunteers at one CCUSD location on Thursdays and fill the backpacks. The backpacks will be delivered every Friday to each school for these students to take home anonymously.
Since 2013, the CCUSD Backpacks for Kids program has been serving students at all CCUSD school sites, serving more than 10,000 meals to students throughout the year.
Food donations can be dropped off at the CCUSD District Office (4034 Irving Place) or at the main office of any CCUSD school site. In addition, a number of new drop-off locations have been announced, including City Hall on the ground floor opposite the elevators), Culver City Police Department (in the lobby), Culver City Fire Department and the Culver City Senior Center.
In addition, tax-deductible donations can be made by sending a check to Culver City Council PTA, 4034 Irving Place, Culver City, CA 90232 with the word “Backpacks” in the memo line.
Success for All Takes US ALL!
