Dr. Shery, Culver City Disability Advisory Committee to be Honored by L.A. County Commission on Disabilities

lsCulver City’s Disability Advisory Committee (DAC) has been selected as an ADA25 Access honoree by the Los Angeles County Commission on Disabilities. On October 20, at a reception celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA25), Dr. Jay Shery, DAC Chair, will be presented with the award for the DAC’s outstanding work in the community and commitment to promote equality and improve access for people living with disabilities.

Legislation passed in 1990 that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities. Under this Act, discrimination against a disabled person is illegal in employment, transportation, public accommodations, communications and government activities. The law prohibits private employers, state and local governments, employment agencies and labor unions from discriminating against the disabled. Employers are required to make reasonable accommodations in order for the disabled person to perform their job function.
